Sad

I have had to reinstall this multiple times due to crashes which would not resolve even after a phone restart. Monthy price is too high given competition with PC apps, a port to mobile is not worth $10 a month. . . Try duolingo on PC.

Great program, bad app

I love using lingq, and really feel that it is one of the most useful resources for learning a language. That said, the app doesnt work properly. Once you download its and open it the first time it wont reopen again. I keep having to delete and re-download the app!

This is a best teacher

Thanks for the LingQ

Love it

I love this app, I am about to pay for the membership to be able to use all the features. I havent seen a better way to expand your vocabulary than this... I recommend this to anyone who is short on time due to their daily obligations and trying to learn a language. You still need to add an active way to practice the language but it is the BEST for acquisition of new vocabulary, totally worth it.

Great!

I tell so many people about lingq that they ought to be paying me a salary. Ive become fluent in Russian in just three years using the app and website, so Im happ to recommend it to anyone. "Fluent", by the way, truly means fluent - Ive passed the European standard test for russian at the advanced level, and talk about philosophy with Russian friends weekly. This system is fantastic.

The Best Way to Learn Languages

When it comes to learning vocabulary, and being able to recall grammar rules without consciously knowing them, theres no better method than LingQ. For reading and listening theres nothing better.

I can tell lingQ is for computers

I use lingq almost everyday. I love to listen to a language after having having class on the Internet and having a measuring stick see how far I came after a few months of learning is fun. The reason why I am giving it a low score is because the app isnt as good as the website. What they need to improve the most is re-looking up works you put in your "words know" list. Along with highlighting phrases. Both features are computer exclusive, and it can be annoying if you accidentally added a word in your word know list and have to go to your computer to fix the problem. I would like a more organized download system. It can be confusing what is downloaded and not. A mark somewhere will be nice. And warning when the app crashes (which does happen often) you might loose all downloads. And lastly is a better upload system that works for iPad. The upload is a little confusing on the computer but it is great when you figure it out. I wish you could just copy and past on your iPad, but it isnt that easy. I think this is great for listening and reading. This app isnt perfect it it does take some trial and error it figure out how to use it completely, but it can be worth it at the end.

Ok but very difficult and unclear translations

I used this for Dutch and the translations are unclear and it progressed way too fast. I will come back when Im better at Dutch. I like the listening component. I would give it lower than four stars but would feel guilty since its clear a lot of work was put into this app.

AMAZING but..

Thank you to whoever built this app! Its amazing and effective and the best one I have ever seen but I do have questions. I am having problems making flashcards (how do I make them?) and dont understand the high kiting features of the text of the lessons. Other than that its wonderful! Please respond back so I can continue using this app soon!

Good app, but better used online.

I like the idea behind this program. Its very similar to the full-time language program Im currently in. The app does, however, have some issues. For example, when going through some texts in the target language, the app highlights letters in the English titles as though theyre part of the learning passage. Also, it isnt clear how to add foreign language highlighted in blue to my flashcards. I can check them off as known by tapping the word, but I cant easily add them to words I want to review later. The program is much easier to use online than it is in its app form. The price is also pretty high for a tool used to augment a persons language studies.

Very good, but as part of many methods

I love the app, because I use it while out walking my dogs. For listening and learning to comprehend what is said, excellent. The flash card section is good, and I like that one subscription covers all languages. It doesnt do it all, tho. I have to look up grammar points to be more accurate, for example. I havent tried the tutors, but I expect they are good. No app Ive tried yet does it all, tho, so thats not a major flaw. Well worth trying to see if it suits you.

Unusable on iPad 2

I love LingQ, but this app isnt working for me. Frequently, the list of my lessons is incorrect, and missing about half the lessons. When I select a lesson thats not in the course, half of the time, the link to the lesson itself is missing. When I try and study flash cards in a lesson, the error message "This course has no content" pops up every 10 seconds. But it DOES have content! Im looking at it!! Fortunately, the web site works just fine in the browser, but I was hoping the app would deliver a richer experience with offline capabilities. That doesnt appear to be the case.

...

Decent seeming service, paywall arrives too early and recurring payments ($10-30 a month) are too cheap. Ill stick with Duolingo until I find something that fits my budget.

Nice, but not nearly as good as the web version...

I love the web version, but the app is lacking. Cutting to the gist of it: The web version allows you to see the text and the definitions side by side. On the ipad app, the Lingq definitions cover the text. This makes reading difficult.

A good companion to online

Ive used LingQ for a while now, and the app is very helpful for on the go. One thing I would like to see is the addition of creating lingqs for phrases on the app, as you can on desktop. This can be very crucial for language learning, as idioms are the next step up from basic vocab. Overall, a lovely program. Thanks Steve! (And the other LingQ employees of course)

Wont log me in

I just signed up for the premium membership and the app wont allow my username and password which I know are correct. Talk about frustrating.

Couldnt Be Better

I really cant think of a better way to practice my target language. Of course I use books as my main study guide, but this helps so much! Most course books (Assimil, Teach Yourself, Colloquial) base a lot of the learning around dialogues, so of course this helps a lot too. Really effective.

Great, but not for a beginner

lingQ is a great service, and I enjoy using it very much. It is free, and it is an entirely different way of learning a language than what is taught in the traditional school setting. The only difficulty is if you have little to no experience with the language. I would say to learn the basics of the language before starting this program. But of course, that is merely my own personal opinion

Seriously the best way to learn a language

I seriously love this site. Im currently studying Chinese in college right now as my major and the course is not enough if you want to build your knowledge. Lots of students rely on the textbook but you honestly wont go anywhere unless you broaden your horizons and look for more authentic material. I used this site for almost a year and very satisfied. My only problem is the small things like I wish we could listen to our music while using the phone app and wish you could turn the transcript sideways cause its hard to read the scripts on the narrow view. I really recommend this to anyone wanting to go to a higher level in your language learning.

Load Courses??

Maybe this could have gotten a higher score if any of the courses would load! I cant do anything on this app because I cant get any of the courses to come up. I had high hopes for this app but I cant even use it
